Ankit Poudel is a filmmaker born and raised in Chitwan, Nepal. He received his BA in Film Studies from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and his MFA in Cinematic Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA. He taught film at Oscar International College, Nepal, and Everest Film Academy, Nepal.
He works as a producer, director, cinematographer, and screenwriter. His films revolve around memories and longingness. He was awarded the Infinite Scholarship 2017 by Infinite Studios, Singapore; Chancellor’s Award at University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee 2019 and 2020; and the Adoor Gopalakrishnan Fellowship, 2020.
His works have been screened at various festivals including Sundance Film Festival, ShortFest Palm Springs International Film Festival, DokuFest, Kyiv IFF Molodist, Raindance Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, Festival du nouveau cinema. He was awarded the ‘Best Cinematography Award’ at Indie Cyprus International Short Film Festival, 2018. His film was awarded Best Art Film in Asolo Art Film Festival 2020, Bronze Remi-award at WorldFest Houston 2020, Grand Prix at Split Film Festival 2020, and Honorable mention at Lima Alterna Festival Internacional de Cine 2020.
